The Fist

The plot is dedicated to the figure of Petr Nikolaevitch Bystrov, a Soviet Army guard colonel. It depicts an episode from his life at the front during the Great Patriotic War. Once given a dispatch at his very hands, he had to make it through a treeless field to reach the staff.

But as his winter uniform was of dark colors, he had been noticed by a German fighter against all white snowy background. Immediately, it targeted him and approached with a burst of machine gun fire. The Russian officer came off unhurt miraculously. The fighter disappeared over a neighboring forest. But in a few minutes it returned to the field and rushed to another attack, and then over again. After numerous attacks the cartridges went over. No one knows how Petr Nikolaevich remained whole. Trying to look into the eyes of the Nazi pilot, he only shook his fist as a goodbye sign
